The UN's children's agency announced on Wednesday that over the last 15 days, at least 120 Palestinian children have lost their lives in Gaza.
An overnight attack by Israeli forces on Tuesday in Deir Al Balah resulted in the deaths of 12 family members, including Raafat Salha's wife and four children. Salha is a well-known relief worker in Gaza, as reported by the Independent Commission for Human Rights (ICHR).
The ICHR also noted that Salha was critically injured and had to have a leg amputated.
When asked about the strike on Salha’s home, the Israeli military stated they targeted a “terrorist in the Islamic Jihad’s military intelligence unit who was active in the Humanitarian Area in Deir Al Balah.”
In a separate incident, an airstrike hit the Al-Farabi School in Gaza City overnight, where many Palestinians were taking shelter, leading to the deaths of at least seven people, according to officials at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital on Wednesday. Additionally, multiple fatalities were reported in Al Bureij, a central Gaza refugee camp, following overnight airstrikes in that area.
The Israeli military claimed they targeted a “terrorist” on Tuesday night, who was reportedly operating “inside a command-and-control center that used to be a school.” They also mentioned hitting more than 50 sites in Gaza within the past day.
Local authorities reported that at least 54 individuals were killed throughout Gaza on Tuesday.
At the same time, an Israeli military spokesperson urged residents of a neighborhood in Jabalya, located in northern Gaza, to evacuate, citing “terrorist organizations” launching rockets from that region.
